Add My Media (your own files)

Point SlothMate at a folder or drive of personal videos, series folders, music, and photos.

Objective

Create a My Media source and browse your own files.

Before you start

  • A folder on this Mac, an external drive, a USB key, or a mounted network volume that contains your own media.

Steps

  1. Choose My Media

    Click the My Media card. The native folder picker opens; choose the folder or drive.

  2. Let the scan finish

    SlothMate scans the folder locally and catalogs videos, series folders (Season folders and SxxEyy names are recognized), music, and photos. Nothing is uploaded, copied, or moved: the catalog is metadata about files that stay exactly where they are.

  3. Browse, play, and organize

    My Media has its own Home, favorites, playlists for music and photos, and appears in MultiView and Search. Series folders open as seasons and episodes.

  4. Change or reconnect the folder

    Change Folder in My Media (or Choose another folder or drive in Settings) picks a different folder; if a drive is unplugged, Reconnect grants access again and your favorites and playlists come right back. While Family Guard is enforcing, changing the folder asks for the parent PIN first, and Kids Mode hides these controls entirely.

Expected result

Your folder appears as a My Media source with a private catalog of your own files, built and kept on your Mac.

Privacy and safety notes

Access is remembered as a security-scoped bookmark plus a display name. SlothMate does not separately persist the folder path.
Forgetting a My Media source removes SlothMate's own records only; your files are never deleted or altered.
